Small Things in Store for a Big Project
Posted in: Art | Design
You may recall my post a while back about the movie Fantastic Mr. Fox. You didn't know it, but I was actually doing some research for an upcoming client project. As you can tell, I got pretty excited about the possibility of fashioning a project after this idea - and so did our client. We're not attempting stop motion, but rather photographing a miniature scene and using that photograph as the main image on the promo materials for the Second Annual Equipment Roadeo. (You can check out the First Annual Equipment Roadeo campaign here).
So far, the project has consisted of LOTS of research and purchasing the right scale of miniatures (ie, shopping - who doesn't love that?). I never knew how intense the world of miniature is - particularly in the realm of miniature railroad sets. It can be pretty overwhelming.
My first hands-on experience of this project took place last night, when I constructed the miniature trees. SO FUN. I started off with a tree building kit which includes flat tree shapes with wiry limbs. Once twisted and formed into three dimensional trees, I pained on the glue, let it dry and dipped them in the "leaves" bag. So far, so good.
Stay tuned for continued progress!
